Spring Snow

Even though we've had a fairly mild and dry winter, this weekend we were reminded that it's not quite over yet. A spring snow storm dumped several inches along the Wasatch front. But even with the cold wet weather we were able to have some fun. Saturday was clear and just warm enough to spend a little time outdoors. My fondest childhood memories are of weekends hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains with my family. I so desperately want to create these kinds of memories for Grayson. Becuase I know Josh cannot resist the lure of a new gadget, I suggested we take on geocaching as a family activity. Originally I wanted to go up Hobble Creek canyon, but after the storm, we would probably need snow shoes to get up there. So we decided to keep our first geocaching excursion a little closer to home. We picked two in the South Provo area, not too far from the neighborhood where Josh grew up. We started in Bicentennial Park, according to the coordinates on our GPS device, the cache is located in the preserved wetlands area of the park.

It was so beautiful and quiet, and because of the snow we had the whole park to ourselves. Unfortunately we didn't find the cache that is hidden here. There is a very good chance that it is underwater. So we'll have to come back in the summer when things dry up and try again. But least our little red head had fun looking.

We decided to try one more before heading home, and had much better luck this time.

We spent the rest of the day at home getting warm again. (It wasn't as warm as we had thought it would be). Grayson was so worn out from his little adventure he took a 3 hour nap. Which gave me time to finish my latest knitting project.

Hopefully it will still fit him next winter. If not he may get some use out of this year, there is more snow in the forecast for this week.
